Not everyone wants surgery right away – the gastric balloon is a gentle, non-surgical introduction to weight loss.

Placed on an outpatient basis in just a few minutes, fully reversible and ideal as a first step or bridge before a later procedure.

The Procedure

Gastric Balloon

Non-surgical procedure. A silicone balloon is placed endoscopically in the stomach and filled with saline solution. Reduces available stomach volume. Promotes an earlier feeling of fullness.

Frequently Asked Questions

Well informed for your consultation

How does the gastric balloon work?

A soft silicone balloon is placed endoscopically (without incision) in the stomach and filled with sterile saline solution. It occupies space in the stomach and thus promotes an earlier feeling of fullness with smaller portions.

How long does the balloon remain in the stomach?

The gastric balloon typically remains in the stomach for 6 to 12 months. It is then removed endoscopically. The optimal duration is discussed individually.

Is the treatment painful?

The placement is performed under light sedation and is not painful. In the first few days, nausea and a feeling of fullness may occur, which quickly subsides.
