An elevated calcium level can explain many symptoms – the targeted removal of the overactive parathyroid gland often brings rapid relief.

A short, minimally invasive procedure with intraoperative rapid diagnostics that directly addresses the cause.

The Procedure

Parathyroidectomy

Targeted removal of overactive parathyroid glands. Most common indication: primary hyperparathyroidism with elevated calcium levels. Minimally invasive with intraoperative frozen section analysis.

Why This Procedure

Advantages of Parathyroid Surgery

01
Focused, minimally invasive parathyroidectomy
Only the diseased gland is removed through a small incision – gentle and precise.
02
Intraoperative PTH rapid test
Confirmation of surgical success during the procedure through immediate PTH measurement.
03
Frozen section analysis
Immediate histological examination during the operation for reliable tissue identification.
04
Neuromonitoring to protect the voice nerve
Continuous monitoring of the recurrent laryngeal nerve throughout the entire procedure for maximum safety.

Outcomes

What Parathyroid Surgery Achieves

Cure rate over 95%

Focused parathyroidectomy offers a cure rate of over 95% for primary hyperparathyroidism.

Intraoperative PTH rapid test

Confirmation of surgical success during the procedure through intraoperative PTH rapid testing.

Focused technique

Focused technique – only the diseased gland is removed, the healthy parathyroid glands are preserved.

Eligibility

Who Is This Procedure Suitable For?

Parathyroid surgery is indicated for patients with primary hyperparathyroidism (elevated calcium, kidney stones, gallstones, osteoporosis caused by parathyroid hyperfunction).

  • Primary hyperparathyroidism
  • Elevated calcium levels
  • Parathyroid adenoma
  • Osteoporosis due to HPT
  • Kidney stones with elevated calcium
“Focused parathyroidectomy is a precise procedure with an immediate effect on calcium levels.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Well Informed for Your Consultation

What does the parathyroid gland do?

The four parathyroid glands regulate calcium metabolism. They produce parathyroid hormone (PTH), which controls the calcium level in the blood. In the case of hyperfunction, too much calcium is released, which can lead to kidney stones, bone loss, and fatigue.

How is hyperparathyroidism diagnosed?

Through blood tests (elevated calcium and parathyroid hormone) and imaging procedures such as ultrasound and sestamibi scintigraphy to precisely localize the overactive gland.

How long does the surgery take?

A focused parathyroidectomy typically takes 45 to 90 minutes. The hospital stay is 1-2 days, and recovery is usually complete after one week.
